If you find that you regularly run out of hot water, you might want to consider a tankless water heater. When you don’t have enough hot water, running the dishwasher or taking a shower can become challenging, and this doesn’t need to be the case.
Luckily, a tankless water heater solves these problems, as our very own Arielle Kimmer explains. Tankless water heaters provide a virtually endless supply of hot water, on demand and when you need it.
Depending on the size, traditional water heaters can store 50 gallons of water at a time, but they use energy, working around the clock, to keep the water warm. One of the main problems with these heaters is that when you have used all of the water in the tank, you end up left with only cold water. On top of this, it can take as long as one hour or more to replenish your supply of hot water. Those with traditional water heaters are also paying to heat water they are not using.
By contrast, tankless water heaters have no tank and are able to heat water on demand. With traditional water heaters, you are paying to heat the water throughout the day and night, but with tankless heaters, you’re only paying for the quantity of water that you use. As Kimmer writes, this ends up making a big difference in your annual energy bills:
“An electric water heater can represent 30-40 percent of your electric bill so switching to a more energy efficient unit could make quite the impact on your wallet. Over time, the investment in a tankless water heater will pay for itself,” says Kimmer.
There are many benefits to tankless water heaters. In addition to saving you money, they also help the environment since they use less energy. By switching to a tankless water heater, you could help reduce CO2 output by 964 pounds a year.
